BTW, I’m cheating on these and not adding them to the group because I don’t want to break the rules by not inviting anyone else, but I don’t want to invite anyone else, so I circumvent the rules by just not adding, but still get to make the meme, which for me is all the fun anyway.
So. Questions this round (with my answers):
1. Favorite author – Philip K. Dick (ok, I lied on this one, I really don’t have one, and instead of making something up, I picked John’s instead)
2. Favorite book – Little Women (I know, I know, such a classic, not very unique, but, I can’t help it. I love Jo so much)
3. Favorite poem OR poet – The Road Not Taken (not into poetry, at all. So, once again, classic and not unique, but I still like it)
4. Favorite genre – Novels (not classics, not romances, not chick-lit, just your basic good novel)
5. Favorite non-fiction category – Memoirs (memoirs, to me, are like the GOOD reality shows [like Jon and Kate Plus 8], where you get a glimpse into someone’s life, and the fact that it’s a *real* life of *real* person makes it that much cooler)
6. Favorite book as a child OR first book you remember from childhood – Where the Red Fern Grows (I remember we started reading it class – our teacher read it to us and then stopped half way through and said if we wanted to know the rest we’d have to go read it ourselves. Well, it certainly worked on me. I NEEDED to know the rest of that story, and that’s what turned me into the type of person that actually reads for fun)
7. What book are you reading now? – And Then We Came To The End (I think that’s what it’s called? It’s funny, I’ve been reading it forEVER because I am a Slow Reader)
8. Favorite fictional character – Francie Nolan (from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I like her and Jo March about the same, but since I already picked Little Women above…)
9. Worst book you ever read – Picture of Dorian Gray (I don’t know. I had to read it for school and HATED it with a PASSION. I couldn’t even tell you what it was about now, and maybe if I re-read it I’d feel different, but MAN I hated it at the time)
10. A book that changed your life – Boundaries (it’s from a Chrisitan perspective, though I don’t consider myself "Christian". Also, I wanted to answer with Where The Red Fern Grows, as that’s the book that really turned me into a reader, but I already used that answer. So.)
11. A movie that’s BETTER than the book – Dances with Wolves (hard to come up with an answer for this. I read the book after watching the movie, and as I recall, I did feel very meh about the book, though loved the movie. I’m sure there are better examples than this, but I couldn’t think of any)
12. The most disappointing movie adaptation from a book (you know – you love the book and HATE the movie) – Running with Scissors (lame answer, I just couldn’t come up with anything else. I didn’t LOVE the book, but I did like it, and the movie annoyed me after 15 minutes I had to turn it off).
1. In Honor ~ Philip K. Dick, 2. in the house of the japanese maple, 3. The Road Not Taken, 4. bookshelf spectrum, revisited, 5. Memoirs of my World, 6. Books of Our Childhood, 7. The Dark Path, 8. Bet this is where Francie Nolan sat…, 9. dorian gray, 10. the difference engine, 11. *MooNChild*, 12. www.flickr.com/photos/treese/2222497436/
