In probably my favorite non-water (non-Chicago River or Lake Michigan) view in Chicago, Ceres, the Roman goddess of grain can be seen standing proudly on top of the Chicago Board of Trade Building as viewed down LaSalle St. Ceres weighs 6,500 lbs. and stands 31 feet tall. Built in 1930 the Board of Trade was the tallest building in Chicago until 1965. Mid 20th Century views of downtown feature the entire Board of Trade Building visible from nearly every direction, and standing tall above the horizon. With many taller buildings being built around it over the years, it is now hard to pick out from many angles.
